Community

Community is one of our focus areas here at Good Shepherd and each of the following groups helps us to grow together as a community of faith and/or to reach out to the surrounding community.

Stephen Ministry
Inspired by Galatians 6:2, Stephen Ministry offers a proven and effective way to organize, equip, and supervise a team of congregation members—called Stephen Ministers—to provide high-quality, one-to-one, Christ-centered care to people in the congregation and the community experiencing life difficulties. Faith, Fun, and Fellowship
This is a new team that is focused on creating new opportunities for fellowship for our congregation to spend time together in fun and faithful ways.
Shepherds
This group focuses on caring for members of our faith community, particularly our 80(+)-year-olds, they send Birthday and Anniversary Cards. Contact Judy Nichols for more information.

Aerobics Group
A low impact aerobics group that meets twice weekly to do an aerobics video together. Contact Margaret Cloninger for more information
Quilting
Join this group to either learn how to quilt or just enjoy some fellowship while quilting. You can join in person or virtually. This group meets every other Tuesday. Contact Ruth Neely for more information.

Pinewood Elementary Partnership Team
A growing partnership with Pinewood Elementary School where we seek to support students, teachers, and staff in various ways. Our hope is to have a dedicated group of lunch buddies, reading buddies, and volunteers.
Alcoholics Anonymous (AA)
Alcoholics Anonymous is a fellowship of men and women who share their experience, strength and hope with each other that they may solve their common problem and help others to recover from alcoholism. This group meets Mondays and Thursdays. Contact David Magnon for more information.

Faith

Faith is one of our focus areas here at Good Shepherd. Each of the following groups plays an important role in faith development within our faith community.

Altar Guild
A group of volunteers who help prepare the Sanctuary for all worship services and cares for all of our liturgical supplies. Contact Margaret Cloninger for more information
Worship Assistants
A group of volunteers who assist in worship by reading scripture, offering prayers, assisting in communion, and as Acolytes and Crucifers. Contact us for more information.

Support

While "Support" isn't exactly one of our focus areas here at Good Shepherd, we wouldn't be able to do any of the ministries we do without these following groups.

Church Council
The elected leaders of the congregation act as spiritual guides and visionaries for the mission and ministry of our faith community. This group meets once a month, and all members are welcome to attend the meetings. Contact Katie Tuttle for more information.

Finance Team
A group of people that oversees and cares for the financial well-being of the mission and ministry of our faith community. If you love numbers, contact Greg Canute for more information.
Sunday Morning Offering Auditors
Volunteers who assist Church Council members in counting and depositing weekly offerings and financial gifts. Contact Linda Hamrick for more information.

Beautification Team

Youth

Youth is one of our focus areas here at Good Shepherd. While just labeled as youth, we also have groups for children as well.

Luther Kids
Children ages 5-12 participate in regular gatherings and various events and trips. At Good Shepherd, we have a strong commitment to the growth of each child's spiritual development, child safety during all activities and events, a welcoming atmosphere, and most of all, having fun learning about God and building friendships with one another.
